My family ancestral home is Windyville, Mo. The Peppers Cemetery is the burial place of my direct ancestors. I was a large family with lots of children, they were very early settlers to the area. Some of the oldest in Mo.
My great and great-great grandparents were settled there. There are still a large number of Peppers family in the area. My mother, a Peppers, grandfather was the local Doctor in the area, and also owed and ran the general store. He was the postmaster for the area for years. He was a Doctor in the civil war, and served at the battle of Wilson Creek, outside of Springfield. My grandfather and his siblings were raised there and went to school in the immediate area. I can't remember the name of the school. The house next to the general store was where my Gr-. Grandfather lived with his family. They had 8 children, I believe.
I have visited the cemetery , to visit my mothers family. I don't know if any of it is haunted, but the history of the family is very rich and interesting.
I don't know if any of this is of interest to any of you. I know nothing of a woman dying in a well in the area. I do believe my great grandfather died in the house, after a critical injury sustained while making one of his rounds in the country. His horse stumbled in a swollen stream, and he was injured trying to free his horse and buggy from the water. He died several days later in bed from him injuries. I don't remember his age at the time.
I may have the details a little fuzzy, like number of children, I would have to look up the records, but this is basically accurate.
Please remember to be respectful when visiting these old grave sites, these people are important to us.
Thanks.
