Hi I just ran across your site and it is pretty good. I know for a fact that the Kendrick House IS haunted because I had a Phantom of the Opera Masquerade Ball for my daughter's 16th birthday and my niece took these pictures in the outside slave quarters. It is now used for storage.( the date on the picture is wrong it should be 6-16-2007). She took several of these and they all originate from the same spot on the window and go in different directions. the building was pitch-black. The only light was the flash.
Photo A Photo B Photo C Also my daughter and I went back the next day to clean up from the party and while I was outside she was in the house alone and she came running out scared to death. She said she heard high heeled shoes walking on the hardwood floor in the parlor coming toward her. she was in the room by the back door. She would not go back inside so I went in and she finished outside and I heard the same thing. I also glimpsed what I thought looked like a hand and partial arm sliding up the railing of the stairs ...like someone just walking up holding the banister. This was in broad daylight. Some of the guests the night before claimed to have felt a bit freaked out after dark but the ghosts were very polite and didn't crash the party. There is also a house on S McGregor St that is haunted by at least 5 entities. Now we brought the 2 entities out by way of our "seances" when I was just a kid. Playing with Ouija boards and "seances" is not a laughing matter. The first was a Poltergeist we affectionately called Herkamer. He tugged shirts, pulled hair, whispered, and sorted Halloween candy on my bed one year. There was an old woman that would come out of the closet just before a storm would hit. She would step out just look around and then back up and shut the door slowly. Even if the door was already open which was rare. There was the entity that every night would run up the stairs and stop 3 steps from the top. It never made it all the way up. You could count the steps as it went up. If you were on the stairs when it went by you could feel/hear the footsteps and there was an icy blast past your face. **The entity that sounded like a baby crying.** Then there was the "Evil" I call him that because if evil were a noun that is what it would look like. This was a man with a white shirt and black or blue jeans. He had dark hair and was maybe 5' 10''. He loved my sister. the two times I saw him he was staring at her and when he realized I was looking at him he disappeared...well the first time. The second time he was right between our beds and he almost touched my sister. Now we had a dog that protected us fiercely and he was at my feet that night growling to beat the devil...the man was kneeling by my sister's bed and he reached up to touch her and I inhaled from shock and with one move he was about 2 inches from my face and his face distorted into... well... evil. Its mouth never moved but it said "You will not kill her again." There were no inside lights on but from our window there was a street light that shined into the bedroom. This man was solid. NOT see through. My dog attacked him and it disappeared. my dog hit his head on my sister's bed and I screamed so loud I woke up neighbors. I must tell you that this demon DID NOT look like the movie demons. NO horns or red faces with hideous teeth. Just pure and exact evil.I cant even begin to explain how this thing's face changed in a split second from a loving look to a "if looks could kill" look. Bar none this has been the scariest sight I have ever seen and I will go to my grave swearing it happened. I was 16 at the time so it isn't like I was a little kid making up stories. Although I saw my share of things before these instances. And the last time the man was there was the day before we moved out permanently. Both of my brothers had friends that moved into the house later they did not stay long. My brother (right after me) would not go into that house to play and when he asked why the people why they moved out so quickly they just said I don't want to talk about it. It is always on the market. For the moment it is occupied that is why I wont give the address or the full view of the house. but I lived there from age 7 to age 16 and the stories i could tell you would curl your hair. I had a better picture of the face in the window it was clearer but I can't find it now. I has disappeared. I went back years later to take a picture of my sister's tree she planted years ago) and when I did this showed up in the attic window this was the "man" I saw in our bedroom. My four year old saw it first and asked who the man in the window was. I always told people that the attic watched me if I went by. So with all of this being said I hope you will believe me when I say I know Carthage is haunted I have been in a lot of houses over the last 40 years and I can tell which are haunted and which are not. This is a haunted town. Have a good one. Thanks,
