I have many, many ghost stories I can share, but since Gerald, Missouri is nowhere on your site, I'll start with it first. About 20 years ago we lived in an old farmhouse that was well over a hundred years old. An old man built it for his sweet wife, but they were never able to have any children. There were my dad my brother, who is 5 years younger, my step mom and my little brother 15 years younger than me. The house had been abandoned for years but my dad had always wanted a farm and the price was right so he bought it. The very first time I walked down in the old dirt basement I got a very sinister feeling. It was cold and damp. Our washer was on one side where some shelves were for our canned goods but the other side~ well, there was an old and i mean old, wood burning stove to heat the house and that side is where you could feel an evilness. My dad admitted years later that he didnt even like going down there to put wood in the stove alone. Now you must know this, that my family are country people, we hunt, fish and are not afraid of any one. But we do believe in spirits good and bad. We started hearing noises at night like old people feet shuffling across the hard wood floor. The door upstairs in the loft where mine and my brothers room was at would slam shut for no reason. Then my brother would start seeing an old lady in the window when he was outside. He would run up to his room only to find nothing. We never got a bad feeling though unless we went in the basement. It turns out that after talking with a distant nephew of the old couple who built the house, the sweet old lady died in my brothers room. We would also see shadows in corners but they never hurt us or even moved though they scared us. We believe now that the old lady's spirit stayed there to protect us from whatever else that wasn't so nice in the house.
